I/ Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Brisbane, August 19. The Board of Control of the Amateur Athletic Association of Australasia resolved:— That lists of reinstatements of amateurs be furnished to the board by the various associations. That the rule providing for the bartering or the realisation of trophies tie supplemented by a rule for prohibiting the pawning of them. That no amateur be permitted to issue or allow to be issued on his behalf a challenge for money or against a professional. That an all-round individual championship meeting in connection with the biennial of the Australasian championship meeting be allowed to lapse.
It was decided to hold an Australasian cros6-country championship meetijg every two years over a distance of five miles, with the understanding that the distance should be open to re-considera-tion after the first two race are run. The race has been allotted to Tasmania for next year, New Zealand's turn coming in 1918. Provision has been made for holding javelin throwing events. The question of allowing pole vaulters to make a hole for insertion of the pole was referred to the State associations. AROUSING INTEREST. Received 20, 1 a.m. Brisbane, August 19. The Athletic Conference decided, with a view of arousing interest in athletes', to bring R. C. Walker (sprinter) and HefTernon (long distance runner) from Durban at joint expense, the athletes to make four appearances in New Zealand and two eacti in the Australian States. New Zealand guarantees up to t'loo. The men will arrive about Chrhimas.
