EMPLOYMENT OF PRISON LABOR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, July 23. A deputation from the local bodies waited on Dr. Findlay in regard to harbor reclamation by prison labor and the establishment of a prison farm on a portion of the reclaimed land. Dr. Findlay said he would send down experts to report on the advantages of the scheme and see whether from the 800 acres the Department would receive a fair return for the work, and ascertain as to the suitability of the site. He could not give a definite reply at present, but thought it would bo favorable. He returns north this afternoon.
