Mr. C. M. Lcppcr leaves for AA'ellington to-morrow morning to attend the Racing Conference as delegate from the Taranaki Jockey Club. Over 100 persons banqucltod John Poster Fraser prior io his sailing for Australia. The Jit. Him. Alfred Lyttellon presided over life gathering, which was attended by politicians, journalists and novelists.
His Excellency the Governor, Lord Plunket, accompanied hy Captain Shannon, A.D.C., left Auckland for AVellmgton by the Main Trunk express last evening on a week's visit to the capital, lie returns to Auckland on Tuesday, 27th inst.
Dr. 11. B. Leatham reported to the Hospital Board yesterday that four senior nurses (Nurses Treeby, Muir, Kirk and Barnitt) at the New Plymouth hospital had passed the State examination, and would now receive their certiiicates. Two of them (Nurses Treeby and Barnitt) had also passed the examination held for the Board's own hospital certificate of competency, and two juniors (nurses McAllupi and Tolmc) had passed the examination held hy the medical stall'. He recommended that Nurses Treeby and Burnett be appointed junior stall' nurses.—This recommendation was adopted,
