COMMITTEE'S REPORT. I By Teicgraph— Press Association, Christchurch, Last Night. I The canal question bulked largely on I the agenda paper of the Lyttelton Harbor Board meeting to-day. The finance committee submitted their second interim report, and there was long and at times acrimonious discussion. The committee unanimously agreed to accept the Railway Department's figures' of railway earnings for conveying goods on the Lyttelton-Christchurch line. The committee decided to accept the estimate of the engineer of the Board of the probable increase in trade of the port of Lyttelton, in his report, dated the 25th November, 11)05, on the basis of increase during 23 years previous to the date of the said report. The committee was further of opinion that in view of the fact that there is no probability of an unanimous report on the financial aspect of the proposed work being arrived at by the committee, the members, of it be. asked to bring up a minority and majority report. The return referred to gave the gross revenue earned from goods traffic on the Lyttelton line for the four weeks ended February 2»th, 1008, at £l3/207, with a total estimate for the year of £85,845.
