HANDICAPPING OF HON. ORMOND'S HORSES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. • ChrJstehurch, Last Xight. A! special meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club was held to-day to consider the "Hon. J. 1). Ormond's complaint against the Handicapping of his horses at the club's autumn • meeting. The following resolution was unanimously carried: ''That after carefully considering tin- reasons furnished by Mr. Henrys as to weight allotted to Bollin in the Great Autumn llanuicap and the Filial Handicap, the committee accepts his explanation as entirely satisfactory, and considers that it entirely disproves Hon. Ormond's charges of incompetence or unfair treat-1 iiicnt, and were further evidence -necessary that -Mr. Henrys' judgment was right it is afforded by the subsequent performances of liolli'n at Hastings.' The committee also considered Hon. Ormond's complaint re Mr. Henry's handicapping of Woodhey ami Diamond Star, with the result that Mr. Henry's explanation was accepted as perfectly satisfactory.

THE LICENSING OF BOOKMAKERS. Palmerston X., Tuesday. On being interviewed, the officials of the MamiM-atii Racing Chili took strong exception to-'Dr. l-"mdh\y's published remark- regarding the is'suc of bookmakers' licenses. .As far as the M'annwatu (,'luli was concerned, a Standard representative was informed that all applications were approved by a special committee of the club subject to finally being approved liy the police and the club's private detective. No bookmaker, not approved, was allowed on the course. Regarding the financial stability of bookmakers, an official of the club points' out it is impossible to ascertain this, since bookmakers have not succeeded in forming a Tattersall's Club which would be responsible for defaulting members.
