MEETING OF THE NEW ZEALAKD COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night, The first meeting of the new council or' the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held to-night. The following officers were elected: —President, Dr. Newman; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Marryatt and J. Davis; acting secretary, Mr. A. Marryatt; auditor, Mr. C. W. Triagham, junr.' It was resolved to secede from the New Zealand Sports Federation. It was decided to agree to the Australasian championship meeting being held at Brisbane next August. It was resolved to communicate with the centres asking them to appoint selectors with a view to selecting a New Zealand team for Brisbane. A recommendation from the Duaedin Conference to hold :i cross-country championship was referred to a sub-committee for report. It was decided "to apply to the Olympic authorities for New Zealand to be considered a separate province instead of being regarded ag part of Australasia in connection with future representation at the Olympic Games. MORE Dunedin, Last Night. At a meeting of the executive oi the New Zealand Athletic Union to-night, a letter from the League of New Zealand Wheelmen asking the Union to forward the terms of an agreement to be entered into between the two bodies was received. The meeting was against such an agreement in view of the League's recent action ia seceding from the Sports Federation wicn the only disqualifications imposed by the latter were those emanating from tlm Union. The South Canterbury centre suggested amalgamation with the League, or, failing that, the Union control cycling throughout the Dominion. It was decided to publish a monthly calendar, commencing in October. Reports from centres showed the Union to be in a prosperous condition Worn Auckland to Invereargill,
