MYSTERIOUS STABBING AFFRAY
Received 27, W. 15 p.m. Sydney, April 2i. W. N. Willis the lending figure in the iate'land scandals, was found stabbed in some scrub near Rnndwick about midnight. The affair only leaked out this afternoon. Willis was alive, but unconscious, lie had two wounds in tlie left breast. Clark, trainer for Willis, states that he was at his cottage la-it night, a:i 1 left there late in cheerful .spirits. He was found by a stable hand and conveyed to the cottage. Foul play wa* not suspected by those at the cottage, and medical aid was not considered necessary until later, when Willis became delirious. It was then discovered that lie had been stabbed. The all'air is mysterious. Willis was to have appeared in Court to-day in connection with a case in which a man named Daly was charged with attempting to e xtort money from AVillis. The Judge ordered Willis to show cause for failing to appear on his subpoena, but later on news of the tragedy leaked out. .
