The machinery and plant, C.1.V1, were also destroved. The loss is estimated at CIOOO. The property was insured for MOO. Wellington, Last. Night. At ->:,\H on Suudiiv morning, two shops in North Clyde, occupied by T. Bax, tobacconist (draper, grocer, 'and hillinrds), and A. Allen, saddler, were burned. Nothing was saved. The lire started about the centre of tin- two shops, under one roof. The insurance on the building was C4OO, on Bax's stock an I table and fittings .CIOO in the South British, and on Allen's stock C 2.50 in the Atlas. Duneilin. Last Night. The Volunteers' Drill Hall at Owaka was destroved bv fire on Satvmlnv. The buildings, which also included a billiard room and two other rooms, were totallv destroyed, also recreation material and a quantity of clothing, etc.. belonging to the Owaka Ttillcs. The fire is supposed to have been caused by sparks from a railway engine blowing underneath the hall, where cocoanut matting was stored. The building was insured for €&i<>. the billiard table for .MO. and (ITe clothing for L2OO, a total of C-180. all in the State fire office. The loss is estimated at double the Insurance.
