In 1803, when a young man nineteen vears of age. ho joined the Hoyal Irish Constabulary and remained for sixteen vears. attaining the rank of sergeant. He went through the Fenian campaign of ISU4 to lsSl. and retired from the Constabulary in order tu come to Xew Zealand. 'On arrival here, he joined the Xew Zealand police force. In November. IHSB, he was transferred to Clirislcliureli. Vas more than thirteen years he van stationed at St. Albans, and for < 1.,, past fourteen years has been at ltichuinml. He has rewived several rewards for efficient service.
