PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD
The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Rahotii on Wednesday. Present: Messrs J. Young (chairman), M. Di>egan, T. Harvey, G. Jones, R. Warner, and G. Tylee. Upper Ptiniho Road—Resolved, that a small culvert be erected across the road to keep the lower part from scouring; the question of widening drains lie left to the foreman to arrange. Opua Road—The foreman was authorised to enquire as to the cost of a small ferro-concrete bridge near the creamery. Warea Bridge.—Resolved, that 50yds of boulders be procured for repairs by the Board's staff. (Jones— Harvey). Kina Road.—The foreman was instructed to see if gravel is available f<* repairs on this road, and. if so, to call 'tenders for 200 yards, tenders to close on April 27.—The chairman said Mr. Cook would plough the side-track if the Board would level it.—Members were agreeable -to accepting offer, and leave it until the summer to do the work. .
lhaia Road—lt was decided that if the settlers are agreeable to cart material out and keep a surfaceman going, the Board will .put a man on for a fortnight. (Warner— Deegan). The same will apply to Arawhata and Opua roads. Lower Witiora Road—The foreman was authorised to effect repairs on the road.
■Stent Road (lower)— The foreman is to inspect and report on this road. Dinger's Road—The stones on the road arc to be broken and put in the ruts. Parihaka Road—Resolved, that tenders lie called 'for 100 yards of gravel for Tcpairs. Upper Kaweora Road—Messrs Davey and Coupe waited on the Board re the expenditure of the £51)0 grant, and asking for a deviation from that originally proposed. They said .settlers were agreeable to it—Resolved, that the clerk communicate with the Reserves Agent as to the course to take. Lower Arawhata Road—Messrs Macfie and Potter waited on the Board, asking for the expenditme of the t2O in credit.—lt was decided to spend the amount in metalling. Opunake Road.—Messrs J. Clarke and Duggan waited on the Board, slating that they had Only received £7 out of £ll 13s" (kl for extras on the contract. Thev said the late foreman would sec to it—The chairman said Mr. Porteous had said nothing to the Board, but thev would communicate with him about it, and get particulars -of the work done.
Ruakere Road.—Mr. Harvey gaid tho contract on the road had not been commenced.—lt was decided to give Baker seven days' notice in which to commence the contract, otherwise it -will be cancelled, and fresh tenders be called or let privately.' Parihaka Road.—H. Stonex wrote re fellina bush opposite his section.—Left with My Tylee to arrange to have it done for le per chain. Joint Loan.—Mr. RoMuson wrote stating that the £3OO for the Puniho joint loan would be available in a few days from the Treasury.
Stone-brcaking.—Resolved, that tenders be called for breaking all available stone.
Te Namui Road—Resolved, that a broken culvert be attended to.—Mr. Warner said if the Board would supply pipes Mr. Mcllardy would put thcinjn. —Agreed to. Surface Water—Mr. Tylee said there was some surface water on his property, and he would put in pipes if the Board supplied the pipes.—Resolved, that the foreman inspect the place, and if he thinks the pipes are necessary, he is to supply them. Election—The election for three members will be held in the first week in Ma v. The annual meeting will be hold on May 3.
Lower Kahui Road.-Mes=rs Willeox and Phillips waited on the Board, asking why the rales from the Crown property on the Ral»otu road had not been credited to the Kahui road, as wa» promised liy resolution of the Board some time ago.—Resolved, that the clerk- ascertain the position and report. The usual accounts were passed for payment. The Board has a credit balance of £45.
