THE NAVY LEAGUE.

TO-NIGHT'S ENTERTAINMENT. The entertainment at the Theatre Royal to-night, under the auspices of ,thc Navy League, will take the form of a display of lantern pictures, with musical items, etc. The picture display, which will be managed by Mr. J. C. Morey, promises to be an interesting one. A splendid variety of scenes will be shown, including a, series obtained by Mr. Tisch, from Mr. {.'. W. Palmer, secretary oi the Navy League at Wellington. The opening bcciic will depict King Alfred the (ivcat, actual founder of the British Navy, watching the Danes approaching the shores of Britain. Other pictures will show Nelson's famous ship, the Victory, sailing into action at Trafalgar, the Agamemnon at the bombardment of Sibaslopol, .the Black Prince, the Captain, and other battleships, including the present-day Dreadnought and Indexible. Included in the programme is Admiral Dewey's licet destroying the Spanish fleet at Manila, and the Russian battleship Orel after her rough handling by the .Japanese. There will also be shown a series depicting Jack at sea and ashore, followed by portraits of Nelson, Lord Charles Bcrcsford, Admirals Scott and Fisher, and the. King and Queen. For the amusement of the juvenile section of'the audience a number of comic slides will be shown. Mr. Morey will also use a gooil selection of Army and Navy slides of bis own. With a number of musical and vocal items, a imift enjoyable evening's entertainment should be provided. No charge is being made for admission, but a collection will be made in aid of the expenses.

Mr. W. Perry will sing that longstanding favorite song "The Death of Nelson.'' Mr. T. C. Schnackenberg contributing "The Deathless Army." The main object of the management committee, is to create further interest in the welfare of the local branch of the Navy League, and more, especially among the younger classes of the community, and with that object officers and members of the ischool cadets are invited to be present, as steps will be taken immediately to form sub-branches in the several schools.
