wool market. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cable from its London house, under dale 18th inst.:—''As compared with last sales closing rates are higher by about .3 per cent, for cross-bred merino and cross-bred slipe, and 5 per cent, to 7 per cent, for grease merino; about par to .3 per cent, 'higher lor merino lambs, and about 7'/„ pe- cent, to 10 per cent, for medium" and line greasy cross-bred. The tone of the market is firm. The second series of sales has been arranged to commence on Mav 4th, catalogues to be closed eight clear days prior to the opening of the sales, with a limit of 1.30,000 bales.
