TAUANAia REFEREES ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. Tliu animal meeting of the Taranaki Referees Association was held last night Mr. J- Clarke presided. ANNUAL REPORT. The animal report congratulated the association on its increased standing, botli in members and privileges vested in the Association by the Rugby Union..' The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance of £2 13s Sd. During the year five new members were admitted, but it was a matter for regret that many more retired players do not take np referecing. A matter of some importance was the formation during last season of a Junior Referees Association for school football. The executive considered this a move in the right direction for the training of referees. It was necessary for the executive to remind the members thai the annual meeting of the New Zealand Referees Association would be this season held in New Plymouth. It was hoped that every member would do his utmost to assist in the entertainment of the visiting delegates The committee were pleased to note the return of Mr. Hopkins, who had intended leaving the locality, and hoped his valuable services would again be available. In concluding the report the executive recorded the Association's approval of the capable manner in which Mr. Griffiths had carried out his duties as secretary, and hoped that his services would be available again this year.. The report wars approved. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The election of officers for the ensuing vear resulted as follows: President" Mr. F. T. Bellr'mger: vice-presi-dents, Messrs. E. Whittle, W. E. Perceval, E. Dockrill, D. Maloue, B. Dive, G. Svme. C. Clark, P. Mcllvride, Dr. Fookes and Dr. Claridge: secretary and treasurer, Mr. 0. West; audito:, Mr. A. It. Standish. Mr. Geo. Griffiths was elected vicepresident to the New Zealand Referees Association and delegate to the Taranaki Rugby Union. GENERAL. The following new members were elected:—Messrs. ,1. Johiwm and O. West, subject to examination, and W. 11. I'errett, subject to the production of his papers from the Wanganui Association. A vole of thanks was accorded the New Plymouth Club for the use of a room for the annual conference of New Zealand referees, and for placing the Club's rooms at the disposal of the visiting delegates. Messrs. Griffiths and West were appoint! d a sub-committee m make arrangements for the tiiwrtainnient of visiting delegates. It was decided to write to the various football clubs to the ellect that when' a home referee controls a home match, and where there are no travellin'.r expense, the home club into the"Association's funds 10s for all senior s:i for first junior, and 2s (id lor second junior matches. . . It was resolved tiiat the Association place on the minutes its appreciation ol "the services rendered by Mr. George Griffiths during his term of oil ice as secretary. . . \ vote of thanks was also avoided Mr. V R.
