Some of the passengers by the Cor-1 intliic, due here on Monday afternoon, will spend probably from three to four weeks on Somes Island, in quarantine there. There are 22 cases of measles and 5 cases of scarlet fever on board. So far as is at present arranged, the Health Department will endeavour to make provision on shore for the measles eases, and the scarlet fever eases will go into hospital. In case of those who have come into contact with the persons sull'oring from the diseases named, they will certainly spend some time on Somes Island, and if steps now being taken to accommodate the measles cases on shore are not completed they will go to Somes Island also. There is plenty of room on the island, accommodation being available for over 300 persons.
Enquiries at the Health Ueparlinen show that there is no reason for publii alarm. The usual strict measures wil be taken in regard to the segregatioi of the eases. The working of the shij will not be interfered with.
