LOCATING THE PENGUIN WRECK
MARINE DEPARTMENT NOT TAKING ACTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The recommendation of the coroner's jury that some attempt should be made to'locate the wreck of the Penguin Is not viewed with favor by the .Marine Department, as ill the absence of any reliable guide as to the vicinity in whicli the vessel made her last dive the possi-1 bility of finding the wreck is very remote. No one appears to have any idea where the wreck lies, therefore so large a field would have to be dragged with grapnels that a month's work may prove futile. The cost of a vessel like the Tutanekai when in commission anion its
to something like .CM a day, and the Department docs not consider the search should be undertaken unless more definite instructions concerning the vicinity of the vessel are forthcoming.
