Tim ordinary monthly meeting was 'held at Opunake on Friday. -SINKING FUNDS. A letter was read from the Auckland City Council re sinking fund commissioners, asking' the Council to enter itw protest against that portion of the Act 'which prevents local bodies investing their own sinking funds, 1 Resolved, that this Council -supports the Auckland Council in its endeavor to get tllu particular section of the Act irepealed. Munro reported on the Qco Riding, as follows: —Contracts: The continuous! dry weather has enabled contractors to •put through a good amount of 'work during the .past month. Kelicly Kros. Wve 'completed contract No. 112, delivery of gravel ( oiv the Lower Oeo road, •and they have made very good progress •with contract No. 110, delivery of gravel -and boulder stone on the Patiki road; 'this contract will be completed in n few ■days, and they will then wake a ntart 'with contract No. 109, delivery of beach shingle o-u the Main. South and Watino roads. Those contractors also put out •70 yards of gravel,for the construction •of approaches to the Pihnma post oflice during the month. General: 1 might Vail the attention of the Council to the Very unfair position, taken up by the Waiinate West County Council in sending their contractors into this riding toi procure boulder stone antl carting same over several miles of this county's roads •during the late very dry "weather, thereby causing considerable damage to the 'metal way, the greater portion of which 'has only recently been put down. I understand from the contractor that a» ■notice or' entry 'had been served on the 'occupier of the property from which the> stone wis taken. Stone is very scarce •in that 'locality, and we find it very diflicult to procure sufficient for maintenance purposes. i The Council will get advice re Wai--mate 'County taking their stone.
