FIRE BRIGADES' DEMONSTRATION.

The annual demonstration of the United Fire Brigades Association was concluded yesterday in dull weather, in the presence, of between .'IIHHI and 4000 spectators. As on the previous days, the events were run oil' promptly, with the result that the demonstration finished in good time. The final points for the shields place Timaru winners of the champion shield, Masterton winners of the high pressure, and Napier winners of the Speight's Shield (For manual events). The concluding day's competitions resulted as follows:
One-man ladder: Masterton Ist, after dead heat with Auckland City; Dunedin ■City 3rd, and Ashburton 4tli, after a dead heat between six tennis for third place. . Rescue events (two men): Napier 23 4-s*ec.. Ist; Auckland City, 25 l-osi-c, 2nd, after a dead heat witli Dunedin City: Oueluinga._2<n-sscc, 4th, aft*r a dead lieat with Waihi. Alarm and disabled hose (live men): Timaru, ">B2-sscc., Ist; Dannevirke, m 2-."isee., 2nd; Dunedin City, fiOsce., 3rd; Napier. 8()3-5»ec, 4th, after a dead heat with Spit. An old firemen's coupling event (two men) was placed on the programme, and was won by Roberts and MacDermott in 284-SSM., with Mouldcu and Fenton, 33 l-Sacc, 2nd; and Bevcridge and Lcpine, 34see., 3rd.
