DEFRAUDING FOOTBALL ENTHUSIASTS.

A GIGANTIC SWINDLE. London, February 20. Joseph Stoddart and Frederick 'Catling were tried for conspiring to obtain money by offering prizes in certain circulars called "Football Records and Football Sport." Evidence showed that Stoddart liai netted nearly £200,000. He was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment.

Catling was found "not guilty" of false pretences, and in regard to the conspiracy charge the jury disagreed. Catling was released on his recognisances.
