The Right Hon. 11. H. Asquith, Premier, told a deputation of the Trade Union Congress that he favors payment of candidates' expenses, but be had not decided whether it should he intiile from local or Imperial funds. The unanimity among working men's representatives which existed a few years ago regarding the payment of members of the House of Commons, was not apparent now. The Government is considering the unemployment fund difficulty, and is making grants to trade unions. At the best contributions should be used for militant purpose. lie refused the minimum wage to 35 Government elerks.
