SWEATED CLERKS.
Received 20, 1.5 a.m. Sydney, February 21. The report prc]»rcd by the United Clerk*' Union states that a. body of office-workers, who come under the dc(iuitiorj, of clerk, are subject to conditions <il -absolute sweating, which are rapidly becoming wome. They do not receive sufficient to maintain themselves independently in a single condition of life, let uloae maintain a household. The report admits that in many instances the employers are uo more to blame than the clerks, who, under the pressure of competition, permit themselves to be ground down' as regards pay and overtime.
