A POPULAR MAYOR.

The .Mayor of Auckland (Mr. Arthur -M. .Myers), who vacates that position tomorrow in order to proceed on a trip to 1)10 i)]j Country, took leave of the citizens to-night „t an immense gathering in flu- Albert Park. Fullv 10.000 people were present. The function took place at the band rotunda, the spue" around which was brilliantly illuminated by lamps specially erected by the (Ins Company. An address, which, is to be illuminated, was presented to Mr. Myers by .Mr. Bagnall, president of the <!liamber of Commerce, on behalf of numerous subscribers. Tile Mayor was also the recipient of a presentation from the Auckland Provinicul Bauds' Association. This took (In. f,„„, of a law shield bearing photographs of Ihe members ol (he Association and of the Mayor and Mrs. Myers. 11 was mentioned that during his four years of olliee the .Mayor bad contributed CBSO to the funds of the Hands' Association Mr. -Myers was also presented with an address from the suburban local bodies.
