The evidence was largely technical, dealing with the tides and currents prevailing in Co"* Strait, and with the course set by t'apt. Baylor on the night of the, disaster, which master mariners., who were examined, generally agreed was a safe one As tu the lowering of the boats, the evidence indicated that members of the crew did not take up their allotett stations at particular boats, but assisted generally. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr Myers said when an accideut happened in Cook Strait it was invariably attributed to abnormal current!.
