A MISSLNC MANACEU. By Telegraph.—Press Association Christchurch, AVednesdny. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the manager of a local coal company. .It is .stated that news regarding his .whereabouts would be welcomed by several creditors as well j t s shareholders in the company. He seems In hale left Christchurch on Wednesday last, and as he did not return by the end of the week an investigation was made into Ihe a flairs of the company's books. Documents that should be ke.pt under his charge were found to he missing, and further enquiry showed that there had been defalcations of a serious nature. The police are endeavoring to ascertain what has become of the man. but so far their elTorts have be-n I unsuccessful. It seems probable that lie has left Xow Zealand.

Serious defalcations are alleged, but in the absence of docnmentarv evidence, it w not possible to -ay how the linauees of the company stand, it is understood that tilie directors had deeided to wind up the concern, but when search was made for the books no trace could be found by {hem. The creditor* of the company are said to be fully protected, ami it is expected •Uml the loss will fall on the two or 'three gentlemen who constitute the companv.
