EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE.

The Educational institute Conference was continued to-day, when the follow- ' rag resolutions were adopted:—That at least one session of the annual meeting be devoted to topics connected with the discharge of school duties; that the mathematical and other difficult por. tions in course A geography be deletfed f)rom the «\ J UaMts or transferred to course 13, and that a portion of course It lie substituted in lieu thereof; that the travelling expenses of the executive lie paid out of the general tad; that the Minister of Education be requested to sec that the Education Act is administered by Boards in accordance with the provisions of the Act and Departmental regulations; that the Minister be asked to frame regulations so as to provide for the Education Department's acceptance of the required medical certiticate on the first instance of the teacher into fie teaching profession; that the Minister lie respectfully aalnd ' to formulate a tentative scheme for the promotion of teachers, such scheme to embody the principles accepted by the Institute at its meeting in 1008; that th« inspectors of tiro Dominion should be placed under the control of the Central Department with respect to interpretation of regulations and syllabus; ami that a colonial scale of salaries for the inspectorate is urgently needed. A motion that rifle shooting be placed on the syllabus as an optional subject was lost.
