Races at Ellerslie to-day. Winning owners secured stakes at the Taranaki Jockey Club's Christmas meeting as follows:—Messrs J. Clareburt £lls, Te Hikaka £ 115, Miss Dempster £IOO, Messrs. H. Eva £IOO, A. Robertson £95, C. E. Major £BO, R. 11. Campbell £7O, J. O'Driscoll £6O, W. Elliott £55, A. Ryder £55, W. F. Hawke £SO, H. Spratt £45, G. D. McKenzie £45, H. Fryer £2O, W. G.' Glassford £2O, A. Morton, E. Uncle, I. Hardley, f>. E. Cooper, L. Bremer, Weraroa Kingi and F. Jackson £lO each; S. McGuraess, J. Foreman and H. Cleland £5 each.

Honors were fairly evenly divided amongst the jockeys. W. Raynor, R. Copestake, T. Coleman, C. Jackson, J. Clareburt and E. Barton- rode two winners each, and Mr. O'Driseoll, J. Stanley, F. Lind and C. Cochrane were up on one winner apiece. Trainers W. Raynor and J. Clarebu-t scored double wins with Astraea and Lady Menschikoff respectively. Tanekaliji and Waieri, two representatives of T. C. White's stable, won races. C. Jackson scored a like distinction with Mendip and Clonpett. Favorites had a glorious time at the meeting. Seven firsts and five second favorites caught the judge's eye, and the bookmakers must have had a "gruelling." No. 5 was the lucky saddlecloth, beng up on four winners, and No. 1 was carried by three winners. Master Douglas will be making bis first appearance at Ellerslie to-day in the Ponsonby Hurdle Race, but will have to be at his best to have a chance with Luscombe and Reservoir. ( Armlet ran a slashing race in t'ne Railway Handicap for live furlongs, and is a likely starter ia the Visitors' Plate to-day. The forward running of the veteran Paritutu in the Auckland Cup on Saturday was surprising. The old fellow had the services of Buchanan, and acted as pacemaker for eleven furlongs. All Red and Bobrikoff were lying lif-idy at this point, and Jenkins rushed i -1 Red to the front and slipped Bobrikc:' anil Co. Bobrikoff came with a grea run in the straight, but could not eaten All Red, who won by two lengths. Paritutu was a length away in third place, and then followed First Gun, Ikon, Carl Rosa, Paliutu, Diabolo and Stratagem, the top-weights, Master Delaval and Zimmerman being last. All Red is a greatly improved horse, and with .leukins up always takes a lot of lieating. From B.(i, he lias jumped to !1.8 in tin; Summer Cup to-day. Elysiaii, who figures as top-weight in the Criterion Handicap, ran a line race to Broadsword in the Great Northern Foal Stakes. Clifford's two-vimr-olds have won the event the last four'years, and in Saturday's race Brodasword lia.l, to run lmi;i 14 3-. r >see to win

Of tlic ve»;y poor cjro»"ri" m the Waitomata Handicap. Edition, at tlie top of the handicap, finished second to X.irapuka in the Robinson Handicap, run over seven furlongs.
