The New Plymouth Club opened its season last night, when a swimming gala was Held at the municipal baths. The weather .was favorable, and there w.is a very fair attendance, over two hundred people being present. The entries were fair, and some close finishes resulted. The first two or three events -were got off in quick succession, but before half of the programme was disposed of "weary waits' were in evidence. Messrs.
