VETERANS' ASSOCIATION

The Taranaki branch of the New Zealand \<-'teraus' Association (mustered; well on Saturday to receive tlie Association decorations, which were distributed by Captain Ctandish. The following letter was received from tile Colonial Secretary by those receiving the decorations: —"1 have the honor to intorm you that your application for the Association's decoration has been granted in consequence of your services in defence of law and order ia New Zealand; and your name has been registered on the roll of honor belonging to the Association to 'be handed down to posterity. Accept it as an assurance of our highest esteem." The general secretary also forwarded his best wishes fof the members' enjoyment of a happy New Year, -and many of them." The decoration consists of a medal struck from gun metal in the form of a Maltese Cross, surmounted by a crown. The centre is circular, bearing the inscription "Royal N.Z.A.
