IMPORTATION OF STUD SHEEP. l>y telegraph.—Press Association. Cliristchurch, Last Night. There arc at present on Quail Island .1 number of highly-bred s uid sheep wlncli are to he utilised by their owners to improve the Hocks of the Dominion. A Border Leicester ram aud three ewes J rum Messrs. A. and J. K. Smith, Leighton, have been imported by Mr. D. Ross, Palmerston North, and a Border Leicester ram from the same breeders has arrived for Mr. N. U. Orbell, Mount Hemes. Mr. Ross has also imported a Border i-ciceslcr ram and two ewes bred by Messrs. 'J', and R. Chirk. Messrs. Helder and Awdrey, iuvcrcargill, have imported two Cheviot rams bred by Mr. ■J. Robson, Newton, Northumberalud. FROZEN MEAT CO. Cliristchurch, Last Night. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Co. was held to-day. The report showed the net profit for the year at £14,870. After adding the amount carried forward from the previous year, writing oil' £3500 ou wm u account, £0430 was left. The directors proposed to pay a further 3 per coat in dividends, making 0 per cent, for the year, carrying forward £9lB. stock dealt with last year totalled 822,805 a decrease of 240,544 on last year's ti"ures. James Hamilton was fin'ed / £3O aud costs on one charge, a conviction recorded 011 a second charge, and two other informations were withdraw;), Tlios. Laino Anderson, previously convicted on, a similar charge, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Annie Hoffman was lined £lO, Mary Ann Byron £2O, William Byron no, and other convictions were recorded without penalty. Several informations were withdrawn. The cases against Archibald and Elizabeth Emerson were dismissed, the Ma"istrate saying that undoubtedly perjury had been committed on one side or tile other. Dunctlm. Lust Night. Barclay does not intend to go any further in the matter of the Oimedin North election as far as the re-count is concerned. This, of course, does not bind JM,-. Hie point n.i issue was whether frost-bite was an in jury under the Workers' Compensator Act. Claimant was awarded .CISO.
