The three-masted scow Ururoa, laden with coal from Newcastle for VYanganiii gasworks, went ashore last night o;i Uie sen beach aboul a mile south of the entrance to the port. She lies about 250 yards from the shore in a bad position. Though sue is floating at high water, it is believed she will ground at low tide. No coinnumicaliou has yet been held with her, though the tug Thistle has gone to her assistance, iler bulwarks appear to be broken away.

The Charles Edward, which lies in a dangerous position at the end of the breakwater at-the entrance to the port, is full of- water and ava'sli. The vcs-el is apparently considerably strained. All movable gear is being taken ashore. The prospects of saving the vessel are not very hopeful.
