AMUSEMENTS.

THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS. Mr. Edward Branscombe, who so successfully toured with the Westminster Glee Singers some years ago, is the organiser and director of the " Scarlet Troubadours," who arc to appear at the Theatre Royal on November 3rd and 4th. The ''Scarlet Troubadours" is a comedy costume company, consisting of eight leading English vocalists and humorists, two ladies and six gcntlemjn. Their work is of the highest standard, as one might well expect from the fact that Mr. Edward Branscombe himself personally selected these artistes from London with a view to upholding his reputation for maintaining an excellen'-e in both solo and concerted singing. The company is also exceptionally strong from a humorous standpoint. They come to us fresh from their recent successes in Australia, where they have attracted large audiences, and are spoken of by the press in the highest terms of praise. Of the six gentlemen it i".

only necessary to state that both Messrs Alfred Cunningham And Ford Waltham i were the baritone and basso of the London Meister Glee Singers, a male quartette which held the reputation of being the finest in the world; and that Mr. Sydney Mannering, the tenor,- was for four years playing leading roles with the Moody-Manners Apera Company. Mr. Pereival Mackenzie, the art-humor-ist and crayon artist, draws "impression " pictures in record time, and also illustrates in coloured chalks some ot the musical numbers whilst being sung. This gentleman has twice been honored by a Royal command to appear before His Majesty the King. Mr. Edgar Warwick, described as a "prince of jesters," enjoys the reputation of being one of England's foremost society entertainers. The performances given, apart from their musical excellence, are presenter! in quite a novel and unique form, unlike anything of the Hand which Ims yet visited New Zealand. There will be a complete change ot programme ea.'h evening.
