ALLEGED INTIMIDATION.

Herbert Foril, a dealer in jewellery, was (railed upon to answer a charge at lliu l'olice Court to-day of having delivered to a lady customer a document intended, or likely by reason of its wording or appearance, lo cause any person ignorant of the law to believe that it had been issued by a Court or (Magistrate, or some Court ollicial, or that its delivery would have some legal effect. Chief Detective .Marsock produced Idle paper, blue in color, surmounted by trtie Royal Coal-of-Arnis. It was couched in legal phraseology, and the | detective said it was likely to deceive any person ignorant of the law, and make, him or her believe it to he a legal process issued by some person in authority and induce tile belief that unles the goods were delivered, Court proceedings would follow. The Magistrate said there was no necessity to resort to documents of this kind. It was clear that tflie Object was to frightI en people. As this was the first prose- ( cution of the kind here, he would Impose only a small fine of !>s.
