CANADIAN WOOLLEN INDUSTRV IN DANGER. Montreal, September 10. .Mr. Rolland, president of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association, in his presidential address to the association s convention at Montreal, said that under the preferential taritl' the woollen industry of Canada had steadily declined. The value of the- woollen manufactures imported during the year ending April, 1807, was .€1,400,000, and the value for the year ending April last was .€-1,200,000. There hiid been siuee 15)00 a decrease iu the capital invested in Canadian wool production amounting to £720,000, and a decrease of 2200 iu the number of hands employed. The annual value of the products had increased by .€320,000. He appealed to Canadians to insist on the inercaso of woollen duties in ordi r to prevent tlw extinction of the industry.
