PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.

(L'o-day Sir William Steward intro- j ilueed a of members of Parliament to Mr. McNab with a request that the Public Holidays Bill should be amended in the direction of making Easter Saturday a compulsory holiday. This ,it was pointed out, would give four clear, days for Easter encampments. To meet any objection to the increase of holidays the deputation suggested that three Saints' days—St. Patrick's, St. George's, and St. Andrew's—should be obliterated from tho list of public holidays.
