SUPREME COURT.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. l'alemrstou N., Last Night. At the Supreme Court on Saturday, C. E. Hardea, solicitor, was charged 'before Mr. .Justice Clmpiuaii with fraudulently failing to account for, or pay, trust monies to the ainouat ot €'2.)o, thereby committing theft. Ml'. Louglinan, Crown Prosecutor, appeared for the Crown, and Ml'.. Wilford appeared for accused. The evidence for ilie prosecution was the same as given in the lower Court, For tile defence, Drs. O'Brien, Wilson, and Martin, gave evidence that accused had been sutfering from excessive alcohol for months prior to his arrest, and was incapable of conducting his business intelligently. The jury were absent for two hours... finally returning a verdict of "not guilty'' at midnight. A peculiar incident was that the proceedings were delayed for half an hour owing to trre failure of the gas, the crowded Court being plunged in darkness.
