NAPIER CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. The annual amateur championship meeting of the Napier Golf Club opened to-day on the Waiohiki links. The weather was warm, but a strong westerly wind prevailed until late in the afternoon. The first event was the men's handicap, one round against bogey, and was won by M. Fenwick (handicap 10), J. Dowia, J. Cireuim (10), .and W. E. Knight, Dannevirke (2), each 4 down, tied for second place. The following fifteen players qualified for the championship:—JCurupo Tareha, H. S. Hamilton, 11. B. Lusk, Kapi Tareha, G. F. Thorburn, W. 13. Colbeck, 'A. Barraud, E. S. Pearce, V. Harman, H. KAwlii, E. A. Dargaville, Major E. R. Gordon, W. Strang, F. T. 'Roys, and J. Cireuim. The sixteenth player will be either A. Bortliwiek, W. T. Peacock, or H. Peacock.
