New Plymouth has lonbeen renowned for its splendid climatic conditions lor horticulture, but the magnificent display of spring flowers at yesterday's function was even better than was expected. Tables for the blooms uj flowers had been erected down the centre and at the sides of the hall which enabled the exhibits to be shown to advantage. There was a large attendance both in the afternoon and evening, 'flic largest exhibit was that from Mr. ,7. u. Duncan's nurscrv at Westown. litis splendid display included many beautiful blooms of the narcissi familv there being no less than six hundred blooms of the "Prineeps" variety, in addition to these were, some choice rreesias, violets, anemonies, etc. plants ferns, etc. Messrs. .1. Weightman and Son, of Awahuri, had a particularly fine, exhibit of the narcissi familv, the most prominent' being "M. .1. Berkley." Hyacinths, primroses, violets, and freesias made up a most attractive exhibit. A particularly handsome maiden hair feraaadaabxoffrcusias were exhibited by .Mrs. A. M. Bradbury. Mrs. A'iearv exhibited the finest daffodil in the show. Mrs. Stanley Shaw's exhibit of daffodils, hyacinths, etc., was easily the best amateur collection in the show. Miss Denish's collection of cut bloom, was awarded first prize, Miss Hempton being second. Mr. Newton King exhibited a

very choice collection of primroses, a large double yellow and a blue specimen being much admired. I n the children s classes Miss Irene Pope was given first prize, Master lan Roy securing second. All other exhibits were most creditable, and, considering the excellence of spring (lowers in New Plymouth, it is to lie re" grettcd that an annual show is not hcl i. The fancy goods stall did a large amount of business, most of the articles being disposed of. This stall was presided over by Mrs. Doekrill, assisted by Mcsilames Lewis and Evans and Misses Austin and Pclham. The refreshment stall had a busy time, Misses Wilson, Wilcox, and Baker being in charge. Afternoon tea was dispensed liy the following ladies:—Misses Bedford (2), Evans (2), Preston, Prilchard, and Godrez.
