RAIIOTU. (From Our Own Correspoudent). Mr. S. Dalrymple, Inspector of M.iehincry. is at present on u visit to the , district. This annual meeting of suppliers to the local factory takes place on Friday. The supply of milk is increasing daily, and the factorv will soon have to run every day. A voting hulv had a very exciting experience here' last Saturday. Whilst riding along- the track to the post ofiice her horse slipped into a swamp and rolled over. The young lady was thrown clear, and fortunately escaped unhurt. Assistance was .soon forthcoming, and the horse was extricated. It is certainly time till' County Council widened the road in front of the post ollice. The Salvation Army Bioscope Company showed here on Thursday night to a crowded house. An excellent entertainment was given and thoroughly enjoyed by all present, and the company can lie assured of another bumper house should they again visit here. As the outcome of the recent accident in which two young ladies were injured by being knocked over by horsemen, two young men named J. Barrett and A. Harvey were brought up liefore th' Opunake, Police Court on Thursday, charged with furious riding. Constable Kelly prosecuted. Both the young men pleaded guilty. The Magistrate referred to the danger of the practice, and lined them each 10s and costs. 1. am pleased to see that Mr. MeHanighan, the genial County Council foreman, is again at work after a lengthy absence as the result of an accident.
