NEW BOOT EMPORIUM.

Messrs. Ale 15 wen Bros., the wellknown boot and shoe specialisls ami providers, have moved into their own premises in Devon-street, a few doors above llieir old premises. The new shop is more roomy than the old, and has a larger frontage and an up-to-date window display front, of which good use is made. The interior is conveniently partitioned. A counter runs practically the whole length of the main shop, which is filled ■with apparently every description of footwear. The ladies' and men's fitting-rooms are both roomy and well lighted. At the rear of the shop is the office, and farther back the repair shop, large enough for four benches, but occupied just now by two onlv. Light for the oil ice and the rear jjitirtivm of the retail department is obtained from skylights and a "well," halnstraded in white and gold. On the second lloor are several rooms devoted to the storage of surplus stock and the opening up and "costing" of new lines which so frequently arrive for this webknown linn. The arrangement of the whole place bears the impress of han.ls well versed in the boot requirements of Hie district, whilst the need for the enlargement and improvement show that the linn has shared fully in the general advancement of trade in llicje parts of recent years.
