EXTENSION OF THE MAIN TRUNK.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce at its meeting last evening dealt with a communication from the Whangarei Chamber concerning the extension of the Main Trunk line. The communication stated that at a conference held at Whongarei on July 16 decisions had been arrived at that the time had arrived for a united effort by Auckland memhors of Parliament to secure a substantial vote of not less than £150,000 a year for the expeditious pursuance of the trunk line north of Auckland from Wetlsford to Mtmngaturoto, and that tho Government should be asked to build this line before the end of 1909. The chairman (Mr. L. J. Bagnall) described Due agitation as one which the members were all in sympathy with. He moved that the communication should be sent to tho Government in support of tho agitation for the oxtension of uhe line. Tho motion was carried.
