A STRIKER HKit'r TO GAOL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Eriday. . A strange light un the action of strikers in the recent bakers' strike was thrown by a case heard before Mr. VY. P. James, 'S.M., to-day, when Alexander Davidson, baker, and W'ulte: Kclkollv, laborer, 'appeared to answci' a charge of imlawlully assaulting one Janu's Heron, baker, who aiad not gone ou strike. lhe evidence showed that Jesse llarlen, president of the Bakers' Union, aud the two accused went up from th« t-ity to Brooklyn about haltpast, two in the morning of the . Bth' inst. for the purpose of picketing Heron, who resides at Brooklyn, On coming down to work chase was given by Kilko'lly, who caught Heron, who struck him] and was thrust against the side of tin: tramway cutting. Haslein and David; on were' presunt. The Magistrate dismissed the charge against Davidson, and sent Kilkolly, who is a youth ot IV from Taihape, to gaol for 14 days. Davidson offered to undergo the sentence in his place.
