[ Among the Town Junior essays, that by "Spers Meliora" was easily first- indeed the judges desire to specially commend it for good composition, accuracy and neatness, as well as for its keen appreciation of the lesson sought to be taught. -Barley," whose essay was placed second, had evidently grasped th» idea of industries' week, but rather wandered from jt in describing something that was not seen but gathered presumably from what was heard- when. the town, that signed "Tiii'' being regarded by the judges as the best scut in, as an essay, though the writing is not as good as many of the others. Still, its superior literary merits caused this weakness to be overlooked. "Hopeful," who was awarded second prize, fully grasped the idea'and expressed it we'd. The country juniors were a good class, the writers generally exhibiting close observation and taking a lot of pains with their work. "Peach" deserves a special word of praise for neat writing. The judges cannot help commenting on the fact that a number of essays in the country senior class displayed a similarity which is very extraordinary in a competition for original essays. They were very -neatly written, but they were all ruled out because they were evidently not original.
