HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Monday. The following market' report is cabled by the High Commissioner from London under date August 8: Frozen meat—The mutton market is quiet, but rather steadier. River Hale mutton is in Urge supply and is being strongly pushed for sale. Following arc current quotations:—Canterbury mutton 4d, North Island 3'/,d. The lamb market is steady. There is very good demand. Canterbury lamb 5%d, other than Canterbury 5%d. There is bettor demand for beef, aud the market is firmer. Hindquarters are quoted at 4d, i forequarters 2%d. . , Butter—The market is quiet but I firm. Choicest New Zealand brands are quoted at U6s (nominal), Danish 1225, Siberian 108s per cwt. Cheese—There has been no alteration in the cheese market since last week. 'Hemp—Tlie market is very dull. The stock held in London -amounts to 228 tons. Following are current quotations :-On the spot: Good fair grade £2O, fair grade £22 10s, fair current Manila £22. August to October shipments: Good fair grade £25 10s, fair grade £22 10s, fair current Manila £2l 10s. Last week's output from Manila was 21,000 bales.
