THE KOAlliiU'S PLIGHT. AX ANMOLa TIME. Sydney, August 10. The Koniura has been lowed to Newcastle. She left Brisbane on Tuesday night and shortly afterwards ran into the .strong south-easterly gale witJi high eeaß. She was aimost at a standstill in the gale throughout Wednesday and Thursday. Un Thursday night when she was off ! the Solitaries she was found to be j drifting. The weather moderating on Friday morning, an examination tvas made. It disclosed that she had lost three blades of the propeller. The vessel drifted throughout Friday and Saturday. Oil bags \\ere used with good effect to keep down the tempestuous seas. The gale Jiaving again increased, efforts were made to attract the attention of a passing steamer and of a lighthouse, but without success. On Saturday night, however, the Noorebar saw the Komura's rockets and came to her assistance. The captain attributes the saving of the vessel to the use of toe oil. AH aboard had a trying and anxious tune.
