STEAMERS ASHORE.
CREWS SAFE. Received 31st, 5.42 p.m. Sydney, July 31. The steamer Mareeba, from Brisbane to Newcastle and Sydney, with a large general cargo, went ashore during thick weather and a heavy sea at Stockton beach.
There are hopes of re-Boating tin vessel. The crew is safe. FAILURE OF A TUG'S ATTEMPTS. Received 31, 0.30 p.m. Sydney, July 81. The Mareeba arrived off Newcastle last night. Owing to the heavy weather, the captain decided to stand by still daylight. The vessel grounded at four in the morning. The weather was dark and dirty. She lies broadside on, well up on a' shelving, sandy beach. The crew hod little difficulty In landing. The captain and part of the crew are standing by. An attempt to tug the boat off failed, but will be renewed to-night.
THE SCOW HILDA ASHORE. Received 31, 0.30 p.m. Sydney, July 31. The scow Hilda, at one time engaged in the New Zealand trade, timberladen, is ashore in the bay. Possibly she will bo a total wreck. The crew u safe.
