COMBATTING SOCIALISM.
A MENACE TO THE WKLI'ARE OF ■ THE CO.M.M UNITY. UHRISTCHI'UCII EMPLOYERS' VIEW'S.
By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the meeting of the Canterbury Employers' Association which was held tonight, and which was very largely attended, a vigorous discussion took plate on the necessity for combatting socialism, and the following motion was carlied unanimously:—"That in the opinion of this meeting of the Canterbury Kmployers' Association, political socialism is rapidly becoming a menace to the welfare of the community; that the continuance of the relations between the dominant political party and the socialistic section of the Labor party would be detrimental to the individual enterprise on which the progress of the country mainly depends, and it is therefore necessary that the Liberal party should be rendered independent of the support of the political socialists; that as there is no longer any essential difference in principle between the non-socialistic Liberals and the Opposition, the interests of the Dominion, as distinguished from ' the interests of the two opposing parties, demand that the fusion should ta<o place; that the attention of the leaders of the two parties be directed to these facts, and that they be informed that this organisation will at the general election subordinate a.ll party considerations to the advancement of the objects herein outlined."
