WESTPORT MURDER CASE.
FURTHER EVIDENCE AGAINST CONNELLY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Westport, Last Night.
At the hearing of the perjury chargjß against Connelly to-day, Detectives Campbell and Mcllveney aud Inspector Black gave evidence denying that Gaoler Carlyon had stated that Halincn and Anderson wero innocent men, and that Connelly ought to have been arrested. Mcllveney and Black also stated that Mrs. Pearcc, at an interview, made some mention to tliem about uncustomed tobacco, but later said she stated,she knew | nothing about the men charged with the murder of Bourko.
Constable. Keenan gave evidence corroborative of Constable Buttar's, that an examination at the hack of McLaughlin's shed revealed no (raws of footprints, and said (hat when he arrested Connelly on the night of the murder for breaking a window of the fish-shop he did not notice mud on his boots and clothes that he expected to find, had Connelly gone, as alleged by Mrs. Pearce, through the gate and paddock at the back of McLaughlin's shed. Some other evidence of an unimportant nature was given. Connelly gives evidence in the morning.
