BELL BLOCK. (From Our Own Correspondent)

The local eribbage and euchre dub has played four of its matches, with the fair result ot two wins, one draw, ami one loss. Another match id to take place on Monday evening. The Vestry of St. Luke's Church Ims been busy improving the chureli grounds. A horse paddock lias been fenced oft', the grounds have been surveyed and a plan made of the graveyard, also a bo ik .opened which will in the future enable people to easily locate the grave* of departed friends. I believe a scheme to beautify the grounds has been prepared. A school concert was held on Wednesday evening to raise funds for the school committee, part of the funds to be levoted to the encouragement of school gardening. The. chairman of the school committee, Mr. J. Council, at the completion of the programme slid he was very pleased to see so many of tiio school children taking part in the concert and in so creditable a manner. The programme consisted of an opening duet by the Misses Rice: recitations by the following school children, Hilda Holmes, Myrtle Pepperell. Ronald Andrews, Doris Jeffrey, and Stephen S.eantinell; by Miss Stephen, Mrs. McAlluin. Mr. Rnndle and Mr. ,McAllum. 'Die lirsl part wound up with an exhibition of free gymnastics by the school gir.'s. The second part was a- laughable farce entitled " Paddy's Mistakes." in which the parts were well played by "Miss Ivy i Street, Messrs. McAlluin, il. Street. X. Street, L. Rundle. and W. Andrews Miss Stevens' song and Mr. MeAllnnvS were encored, while, every item was heartily applauded. The chairman thanked all those who helped to ma:;e the concert a success. Refreshments provided by the ladies were handed round, and a few happy hours were spent .in dancing.
