A WOMAN'S SENSATIONAL. EVIDENCE. By '.Telegraph.-'-rress Association. Westport, Last Night. At the hearing of the charges of perjury against William T. Conelly to-day, llulinen was cross-examined. He denied material statements made by the chief witness for the Crown at West-' port and Nelson, stating that Coekcrry and others misunderstood and mis-stated the light he deserihed. il. Christensen, a lad, gave evidence mainly corroborative of Halincn's and Andersen's as to the time they were at the theatre, witness staling he sat in the same seat a>( these two and next, to Mankonsoii, who was with them. Maria Alexander J'carce said she saw Bourke and Conelly | come out of Dyers' Hotel arm )n arm, Conelly dragging Bourke, who was drunk! against his will over in the direction of McLaughlin's shod. She staled that Bourke fell down, and Conelly struck him several blows with a bottle, and afterwards dragged him into the shed, lit a match, and on the appearance of a man with a lantern and dog, hurried out of the back of the shed and over the fence. Cross-exam-, ined, witness said she had no drink that day and was not drunk at four o'clock and attempting to get through a fence ten feet from.a gate. She hnd recently been in Court applying for a separation order from her husband, alleging he was addicted to drink, her husband at the same time making ft similar c'hai'gc against her and the Magistrate declining to make an order. Khe was accustomed to taking something before going to bed at night. She said she had not given her version of the affair, liecause she expected Halinen and Andersen, who. she knew were innocent men, would get off, and she did not wish to get mixed up in the affair, but considered it her duty now to come forward and give evidence. The Court adjourned till to-morrow.
