RECREATION SPORTS GROUND
GRAKD BALL. The grand bull .held by the Recreation Sports Ground Committee last in the Theatre Royal was an unqualified success. All the elements of success were there. It was a line Taranaki lolk by reason of the result of the football match were in a mooil for enjoying themselves, the music was good, the iloor was tip-top, the arrangements were made by committees which had aa their presiding genii Mrs. E. Doekrill and Mr. A. Humphries, and they had with them a body of ladies and who were evidently no tyros at the business. There was a very large and brilliant assemblage, the members of the AngloWelsh and Taraiiaki representative football teams being amongst those present. Messrs. E. Humphries and W. G. Malono were indefatigable M.C.'s, and Mrs. Woods' orchestra supplied the music. The ladies' committee achieved a triumph iu the supper arrangements, the excellent collation being the gift of the people. Mrs. L. A. Nolajt had decoiatcd the tables very prettily. The following are the members of the ladies' committee:—Mesdames Doekrill (president of the committee in charge of the sports ground social functions), 6. Tisch, W. J. Penn, Rollo, Stoeker, 11. Jury, Bacon, Williams, P. Richards, Back, E. MSmith, F. K. Clarke, SimmomU, and l'\ Webster, Misses Humphries (2), Brewster, S. Cupel, Brewster, Hanna, Avery, Collis, and Nichols. If one Haw can be suggested it is that some method should be"adopted by the promoters of socials to ease the work of the ladies by limiting the number of hungry ones allowed iivthe supper-room at one time.
