ALLEGATION* BY ill! T. E. TAi'LOU Per Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. In tile course of a conversation with press representative this morning. Mr laylor said that within the last few weeks a considerable number of applications for enrolment had been put into the Registrar's office of the citv of Christchmeh. all of which were 'made out in one handwriting and the signatures to all of which were, in the°'il>sence of expert evidence and of proof to the contrary, signed by one person, that was under dill'erent names but in the - same handwriting. "The occurrcn.ee naturally attracted the attention of the officials," said Mr. Taylor, "and the matter has been referred to the Wellington authorities with the requwt ■that instructions may be given to tne loeal registrar to proceed for breaches of the Electoral Act." Air. Taylor added: "So far as I can ascertain, the mailer is still under consideration ill Wellington. I believe iam right in saying that all of these applications for enrolliienlt were witnessed by a pul]icali 4 \\ e have so often suspected corruption ill the electoral rolls that action in this matter is of vital importance to us at this stage of the campaign, and we intend if possible to see that the Govemliien shall take prompt and thorough action to deal with the matter, Tf the No-license Party were suspected of similar misconduct the whole of the liqu'Or interests in the Dominion would demand • prompt and vigorous punishment."
